Scheduling Your Exam

The CPIA exam is administered during an established two-week testing period on a daily basis, Monday through Saturday, excluding holidays, by PSI. Apply to take the exam today.

CPIA Handbook

The CPIA Handbook is available to help you prepare for the examination. The handbook lists the topics covered on the examination and provides suggested reference materials that are commonly used in IACUC offices.

Application fees for the CPIA exam are as follows:

PRIM&R Member $350
Nonmember $475

To obtain the reduced registration rate, PRIM&R members must provide proof of their membership (learn more& about the benefits of PRIM&R membership). To do so, please follow these instructions:

  • Log in to the PRIM&R website.
  • Select My Information on the left side of the page.
  • Select "Print your Membership Card" near the bottom of the page.
  • Include a copy of your card with your CIP or CPIA application.

Preparing for the Exam

You can network with other professionals studying to take the exam by joining the CPIA study group on Facebook or the CPIA group on LinkedIn.

Getting the Results

You will be notified of your exam results by postal mail within four weeks. The report will indicate your overall score as well as your scores on the major areas of the examination. If successful, you will also receive a certificate and pin from the Certified Professionals in IACUC Administration Council.

Reexamination

The Certification Examination for Professionals in IACUC Administration may be taken as often as desired upon the filing of a new application and payment of the exam fee. There is no limit to the number of times the examination may be repeated.
